When you look for corporate wellness programs, it’s really important that as a company you look for one that will actually make a difference in the health of your employees. In order to do this, you have to look for a wellness company that will actually have a doctor on staff, because many of them don’t. You then have to have a corporate wellness program company that will work with you. It’s much better to have a local company that is able to be on-site and be available for issues that go beyond the basic wellness package that you’re providing to your employees. For those reasons, it’s important, whenever possible, to look in your backyard for corporate wellness programs that will be able to personalize their services to meet the needs of your particular company, and will also have be present when and if they are needed beyond the wellness program. This is something that most companies overlook. At Amai we are servicing, for the most part, companies that are around us so that we can see them in person, and interact with them on a repeat basis. This provides the company with health coaching throughout the year, rather than a one-time diagnostic interaction that says: “Oh you may have a problem, go talk to your doctor.” At amai, we actually help the patient, and their doctor, to fix the problem. This is a very unique and very personalized way of doing wellness plans. By having your doctor close by, you can craft a program that allows you to meet everybody. When thinking of a wellness program, having a doctor involved leads to a higher level of care and allows you to have continuity of care, should a problem be detected. This prevents the employee from being left in the dark when it comes to bringing an issue to the attention of their primary care physician, rather than only having half the story. This allows for a much more comprehensive evaluation of the employee, and it also allows follow up. These two points are typically overlooked by most wellness programs. Author Dr. Joseph J.
